Mystery Pink Ooze on Secluded Tasmanian Coast Spurs Fears of Potential Algae Outbreak

Agencies in the island state are striving to determine a rosy sludge that has materialized on a secluded beach, with some scientists worried it could be an algae outbreak.

Extensive Appearance Across Coastline

The pink-tinged sludge materialized across a stretch of Randalls Bay about 37 miles south of the city. A similar sludge has also been noted on parts of Little Roaring Beach and Little Taylors Bay.

Specimens Taken for Examination

Examples have been taken and sent to the Environment Protection Authority for examination. A official remarked that "algae outbreaks are a natural event in response to changes in minerals, heat, precipitation or illumination".
